Blogging is putting yourself naked before the world, and praying it won’t take advantage.
I agree. But I’d change that from Blogging, to Writing in general. Having people read what I write feels that way. It’s terrifying and exciting all at the same time.
And because I can’t resist, the awkward comment I wanted to post by itself but couldn’t justify: You mean you wear clothes when you blog?
Awe, drat. That was supposed to have [/awkwardcomment] at the end.
While yes, this applies to writing as well, I feel blogging has its own peculiar sensitivities, and why I think this quote is blogging-centric. For example, blogging CAN’T suffer from the Death of the Author (The concept) because it’s intrinsically a two way communication tool, something untrue of books.
That’s true. I guess I didn’t think of it that way.
I was going to say that playing a musical instrument in public was the same way, only worse. And then I realized that when you stop playing music, it’s done, it’s over, there’s nothing left to hear … but when you write something, it’s there for people to read, and re-read, and reconsider … it doesn’t stop being there.
