I’m one who likes to examine genre classifications and find that thing that makes each genre click. In science fiction, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s the speculation of how certain things would affect society. Take Aaron Sims’s Archetype:
This video is only seven minutes (about five if you skip the credits), but presents some very powerful speculation in that small period.
We see a high tech war, unique data retrieval, and a highly advanced AI.
But then the mother of all questions:
It’s Doctor Stevens, isn’t it?
It’s a deep question that reveals a hell of a lot about this world.
